We wait with bated breath to see what Reforms to our leasehold system will be announced in the King’s Speech

It has been well documented that  a bill to reform elements of leasehold law will be a subject  of the King’s Speech on 7^th November, 2023

But will the long waited promises of change to the leasehold system bring improvements?   The Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Act 2022 has gone part way to improvement by abolishing ground rents in leases created after 30 June 2022 but what proposals can we hope will be introduced to fulfil  the promises made by Housing Minister Rachel Maclean to ‘restore true home ownership to millions of people…’ ?  We shall be listening closely to the speech and assessing its impact – good or bad
