GOVERNMENT PROMISES FOR LEASEHOLD REFORMS SCRAPPED….

Long promised plans to abolish the ‘feudal’ leasehold system which has long endured in England and Wales have been “dumped”…. Despite the government promises of reform no agreement has been reached and it is expected the housing secretary, will announce in June  measures to protect owners of leasehold homes such to include

a cap on ground rents, powers for tenants to choose their own property management companies and bans on  leaseholders facing legal costs incurred in disputes.  Promises to abolish leaseholds is scrapped.  It is to be remembered that ground rents for new leases dated after 30 June 2022 were abolished in the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent Act) 2022  Adcocks Solicitors Limited specialise in enfranchisement and leasehold law.
